Brian Seidel is best known for his emotive portraits and vibrant landscape paintings. He was an Archibald finalist as well as a Fulbright scholar. He was educated by Jeffrey Smart and Sir Ivor Hele with the influences of the Impressionists – whose work he admired – evident in both his palette and paint application. In the late 1970s Seidel both conceptualised and implemented what is now known as the Australian Print Workshop.
