Biography
Born in 1929 in Chicago, USA - Australian resident since 1996
1950s Trained at the School of Art Institute of Chicago
1959 Arrived in Australia
Taught at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
1960-66 Moved to Adelaide to set up a painting studio and consequently was appointed lecturer of painting at the South Australian School of Art, establishing a school of contemporary painting
Elected President of Contemporary Art Society
Moved to Sydney to establish an art studio
1967 Returned to the USA due to visa restrictions
1970 Recieved the Tiffany Foundation Grant for painting
1970-92 Taught as Professor at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana in charge of graduate painting
1992-2001 Took up Artist-in-Residency throughout Europe, Australia and USA
Appointed Professor Emeritus and artist in residence at The Art Museum of La Trobe University, Melbourne. He now lives on the mid-north coast of NSW
