David's Poem by August Blackman
Boydian life at Murrambeena
Oh! how I wish I coulda' been there!
'Open Country' with Doris and Merrick
The Brown Room's love in every skerrick
David and Hermia's magic hands
Spun their spell to foreign lands
Ceramics, Glazes, Alchemy
Took them far across the sea
He joined the Antipodean group
And journeyed to Tourettes sur Loup
Sfumato was his mode d'emploi
Those blackened ceilings brought great joy
Amanda, Lucinda and Cassandra
Jewels like Amethyst and Amber
Blessed girls in every way
Painted while they danced all day
Back in Paddington we made
Revelations round piano played
John Fitchett was our virtuoso
And we performed our 'do-si-do"
The Grand Paella in Tony's pan
Fed one hundred to a man
Oh, how we laughed and loved to sing
We thank you David for the joy you bring
David Fielding Gough Boyd
A Golden Palette you employed
Describing life in Eden
Regaled this day from here to Sweden
For you our deepest love and affection
Now your work's in God's collection
For glazed on certain bowl and plate
With Hermia my soul eternal mate
