The erotic painted collages of naked North Shore matrons on their front lawns were first shown in 1966 at Watters Gallery, Sydney. The exhibition, titled 'Wahroonga Lady and her Naked Lunch' was Shead's first solo exhibition. The work caused controversy which prompted a visit by the police but resulted in no paintings seized.
