2011 Naissance - Drawings for sculpture

10 - 22 September 2011

Eva Breuer Art Dealer is pleased to announce that Vince Vozzo will be showing selected works in marble, bronze, and sandstone from September 10. In 2011, Italian curator Vittorio Sgarbi selected Vince Vozzo among eight other Italian artists to be the subject of a film which will screen in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in June. Vozzo has also been honoured with a major retrospective to be curated by the Orange Regional Gallery in 2012. The retrospective will include the recent film 'Vozzo' by Philip Myers which is due for completion in September. The film will also be screened at Newington College where Vozzo is Artist-in-Residence from September this year. The film will be aired on SBS television at a date to be confirmed.

Like the famous Australian sculptors Lyndon Dadswell and Raynor Hoff, Vince Vozzo is part of the great line of sculptors associated with East Sydney Technical College. Like those great masters who came before him, Vince Vozzo sculpts the nude with a generosity of form and unapologetic strength, which is particularly powerful in his female subjects. The overall impression is one of rhythm and grace, that owes something to the sculpture of Constantin Brancusi, an artist Vozzo admires.
