1954 Studied at Queensland Teachers' College
1955-56 Studied Central Technical College, Brisbane (now Queensland University of Technology) 1956-62 Begins teaching drawing and colour study at the Central Technical College, Queensland
1958 Marries Shirley Rees. Lived in Brisbane
1959 First child is born
1963-69 Appointed to a teaching position at Kedron Park Teaching 1967 First solo exhibition held at the Design Arts Centre Brisbane
1972 Purchases property Canungra 1976-82 Teaching at North Brisbane College of Advanced Education
1982 Teaching at Brisbane College of Advanced Education 1984 Moved to Beechmont
1987 Wins the Archibald Prize for Portraiture with his self-portrait 1989 Retires from teaching and paints full-time
1990 Wins the Wynne Prize with painting The Rainforest. Travelled to Europe visiting galleries in Athens, London, Venice, Paris, Milan and Rome
1994 Moved to Kingscliff, acquired the Springbrook studio. Travelled to Spain, Italy and France; visited Chatres Cathedral
1996 Made lithographs in Paris with Frank Brodas. Visited Belgium and The Netherlands 1998 Made lithographs in Paris. Visited St Petersburg and Greece
2000 Made lithographs in Paris. Travelled in Italy
