Elaine Diamond was born in Sydney in 1943. She studied drawing and painting at the Oxford School of Art in England and later continued her training in Sydney. Elaine has been painting flowers for the past 40 years, and is represented in private collections both within Australia and overseas.

Flower paintings of the Dutch and Flemish school have been a major influence. Tulips and irises therefore occur in much of her work. A more contemporary influence is the work of Georgia O'Keefe whose luminous colours and grand scale fill Elaine with awe and admiration.
