The work of Joshua Smith is currently on show in a retrospective exhibition at Manly Art Gallery & Museum that will be on until the 22nd January, 2006. Curated by Julia Martin with Yve Close, the exhibition includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints that span a lifetime of artistic output - from early portraits and Paris landscapes to his portraits of later years.

Donald Friend & Margaret Olley in touring exhibition

The S.H. Ervin Gallery has organised a major touring exhibition based on the relationship between Margaret Olley and Donald Friend, two important Australian artists whose friendship spanned more than 40 years.

Included in the show is Friend's The Sewing Machine c. 1985 (pictured left), which has been loaned to the exhibition from Eva Breuer Art Dealer.

Among other locations, the exhibition will be held at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Victoria, from 9 November - 15 January 2006.

Kerry Martin wins The People's Choice Award in Hobart

Congratulations to Kerry Martin who has recently won The People's Choice Award in the Hobart Art Prize. The painting, titled 'Under The Canopy,' has been acquired for the Arts @ Work public collection.

Kerry will be showing new works at Eva Breuer Art Dealer in 2006, so look out for the exhibition.

Congratulations to Adriane Strampp who has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Banyule Works on Paper Art Award 2005.

Adriane has also been chosen to exhibit in a group show called 'Whiteout' - a travelling exhibition curated by Geoff Tolchard that will be shown in numerous galleries in Melbourne and country areas in Victoria.

The exhibition will run from Oct 2005 to mid-2006 at various locations: Maroondah Art Gallery, Ringwood; Span Gallery, Melbourne; Benalla Gallery, Benalla; Switchback Gallery, Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, Monash University, Churchill.

In other news, we are pleased to announce that James Gleeson has been awarded a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the arts by Saab.

Last but not least, Eva Breuer Art Dealer is delighted to welcome Adelaide painter Don Rankin to the gallery.

Part of their comprehensive web site, this educational and illuminating tutorial provides a click-through demonstration of woodcut, etching, lithography and screenprint processes. Helpfully, it also offers a glossary and list of recommended readings.
