John Molvig (1923-1970)

Jon Molvig was a colourful and rebellious character in the Australian painting scene from the 1950s.
Even though his career as an artist only spanned 20 years he is considered to be a major force in twentieth-century Australian figurative expressionism.

Molvig’s paintings are energetic, passionate and fiery. His spontaneous and gestural brushwork emotionally charges his works.
