Rosemary Valadon (b.1947)

Biography

1947 Born Sydney
1952 Family moved to Brisbane then to Melbourne in 1957
1966-69 Studied drawing and painting (Meldrum method), Melbourne
1968 Daughter Frances born
1973-77 Moved to S.A. and established painting school, part-time lecturer in painting at College for Further Education, Whyalla S.A.
1978 Moved to Sydney and son Michael born, then to Habu Cho Island, Japan, for 9 months, and studied Sumi painting.  Returned to live in Sydney
1981 Commenced B.A. (Visual Arts), Sydney College of the Arts, Sydney
1982 Lived and worked in Genoa and Trieste, Italy, for 12 months travelling to Paris, Florence, Venice
1983-4 Completed B.A., Sydney College of the Arts
1985-86 Post Graduate Diploma,  Sydney College of the Arts
1990 Study tour - Venice Biennale, Paris and London
1990 Part-time lecturer in drawing, Sydney College of the Arts
1991-93 Research into Greek and Minoan art and mythology.  Study tour - Knossos, Crete, and Athens in 1991
1992 Committee member (4 years) NSW Travelling Art Scholarship Board,  NSW Ministry for the Arts
1994 Part-time lecturer in drawing, College of Fine Arts, University of Sydney; and Sydney College of the Arts
1995-98 Tutor, private classes and workshops in painting and drawing
1999 Tutor, Master Class in Portraiture, Art Gallery Society, A.G.N.S.W.
2000-03 Tutor, private master classes in creativity and painting techniques
2002 Study tour London, Paris and Bilbao
2003 Hill End residency for May 2003.  Lecture and workshop at Macquarie University.
